As World Mental Health Day approaches on 10 October 2026, we’re proud to share an important milestone in our ongoing support for men’s mental health.
At Purbeck, we provide Personal Guarantee Insurance to small business owners, helping protect them against the risks associated with personally guaranteeing business borrowing. But we know that behind every business is a person- and when a business comes under financial pressure, the impact can extend far beyond the balance sheet.
That’s why our partnership with #ANDYSMANCLUB means so much to us.
#ANDYSMANCLUB
#ANDYSMANCLUB provides free, weekly sessions where men can come together and talk in a safe and supportive environment. There’s no pressure to have the right words, and no expectation that someone has to deal with things on their own.
Their mission is to prevent other families from going through the heartache and grief caused by suicide, by encouraging men to speak openly about their issues.
We’ve surpassed £9,000 raised
We’re delighted to have raised £9,139.38 for #ANDYSMANCLUB.
Our fundraising is built into the work we do every day. For every Personal Guarantee Insurance policy we sell or renew, we donate £5 to #ANDYSMANCLUB.
This means that our customers are not only taking steps to protect themselves against the risks of a personal guarantee- they’re also helping to fund free weekly support groups for men across the UK.
Supporting the people behind the businesses
We see first-hand the financial pressures that small business owners can face.
More than a third of the personal guarantee-backed business loans we support are for working capital. That tells us a lot about the pressures business owners are experiencing and just how quickly financial challenges can become overwhelming.
As Nick Linacre, our Claims Director, explains:
“#ANDYSMANCLUB is a charity that is very close to our hearts at Purbeck. The fact that over a third of personal guarantee-backed business loans we support are for working capital to basically ‘keep the lights on’ says a lot about the strain business owners are under right now.
“We recognise that these pressures can sometimes mount very quickly, at times leaving company directors feeling overburdened and helpless. We go a long way to try and ensure the health of the business is maintained, but we also wanted to go a step further to look after the health of the people behind these businesses.”
Early support can make a real difference
Our role is to help small business owners when they need us most. When a client tells us they’re experiencing financial distress early enough, our team can often provide practical support that helps prevent the situation from escalating.
In fact, in 60% of cases where a client has notified us of financial distress early enough, our intervention and support helps prevent the business from becoming insolvent.
That’s something we’re incredibly proud of.
But we also recognise that financial distress isn’t just a business problem. For a company director or business owner, the prospect of losing a business can have a profound emotional impact.
Business owners can find themselves carrying enormous responsibility- for their employees, customers, suppliers, families and livelihoods. When things become difficult, it can be incredibly hard to admit that you’re struggling.
And for many men in particular, opening up about mental health challenges can feel like an additional hurdle.
Every policy can help someone talk
Our commitment to #ANDYSMANCLUB is deliberately simple: every Personal Guarantee Insurance policy we sell or renew contributes £5 to the charity.
It’s a small contribution from each policy, but together those donations have now added up to £9,139.38- helping support #ANDYSMANCLUB’s work to make sure more men have somewhere to turn.
We’re proud that our customers are part of that too.
This World Mental Health Day, we’re proud to continue supporting #ANDYSMANCLUB and its mission to make sure no man has to face difficult times alone.
If you’re struggling, talking can be a first step.
